Welcome to Susan's Garden
Our red onions are hung. Mom taught me how to braid them so you could just pull one onion without disturbing the rest. I was never very good at that, so I tie them with string and snip off what I use. I used the last of our hung onions from last year this March. It was as crisp as the first pulled. Hanging in a cool dim place is the key. The laundry room is our closest thing.
We still have our yellow onions to pull. I used most of our sweet yellow onions in the bread and butter pickles.
Several people ask me why we do this. Why we do all this work. I may do a post on that soon.
